My name is Lorena Monagas, and I’m a bilingual (Spanish and English) storyteller, illustrator, and actor from Puerto Rico, currently living in New York.
I hold an MFA from the Academy for Classical Acting at the Shakespeare Theatre and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and a BFA in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
My training includes Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts, Juilliard Extension, The William Esper Studio, and The Barrow Group in New York City, and Casa Cruz de la Luna in Puerto Rico, where I explored everything from classical acting and Meisner Technique to Theater of the Oppressed—practices that continue to shape my creative approach.
My work spans illustration, writing, acting, and producing across stage (Broadway, Off-Broadway, and community theater), film, and voice-over.
I believe that sharing our stories helps us discover our shared humanity and common ground.
